Last I heard they're hanging on by a thread. The 3000 series is less and not built as large. Just estimating from memory, the 4000 series with power steering is somewhere close to $8K, I think with a mowing deck(?!). How are they ? I would think it would pull like a friggen mule.Īnybody out there know what one of these runs new ? or used ? Or perhaps have one of the Ingersol (or older tractors) tractors. Im sure their are others out there who have done this to some Frankenstein project of theirs? You can just imagine operation as clunky with the hydraulics coupled to it. While the engine was setup to be shifted very nicely. The contraption worked ok - but it kinda removed the "flexibility" that the snowmobile engin/tranny combo provided and replaced it with the feel of a. It just so happens Ive had the pleasure of helping someone convert a 6 wheel swamp buggy (with those balloon tires) from a snowmobile type drive train to a 250 twin motorcycle engine which drove a hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor for buggy. But never knew these units are hydraulically driven. So I was reading through the postings and recently saw mention of Ingersol having a tractor - not being familiar with them, this intrigued me. On the hose bursting, did it run all oil out of the system allowing the pump to run dry?. Still recommend you get mechanic in that system. I am not suggesting you try this but if you are determined to do some testing with tractor cut off break a fitting loose very little and cover with a good heavy rag it should run out with tractor running (I would only run at idle) and system being operated. Hyd systems run or are designed to run pressure of say 2 to 3000 PSI and that pressure can be dangerous to let loose. How to test the pump, I would suggest getting a mechanic with gauges to test it. You have looked and it sounds like the linkage is all moving and shifting as it should. Is there a filter in the hyd system, if so have you replaced it? Does the manual call for 10w40 for the hyd system? Not the engine but the hyd system. So it ran fine for a while after you replaced the lost hyd oil. Any way to check the pump without tearing out?. Like I said I dont know squat but it seems like a pump issue. As I move from forward to reverse the levers move in and out of the control valve. I see it goes into the hydraulic control valve. I crawled under the tractor to find out where the forward and reverse lever went to. I changed the fluid about 4 months ago as I popped a hose and had to replace it. I did check the hydraulic fluid and it is at level according to the manual. First I apologize for the lack of information but forgive me as I know about as much about tractors as my wife. What does it use to power the hyd system, is it drive shaft or belt driven? Either one be sure they are not slipping or stripped or broken.Īppreciate the reply. I assume you have check the hyd oil level if it has hydraulic system, right? So low oil is not the issue. Any help pinpointing the problem would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming hydraulics by browsing around some forums. The tractor was still running fine and in the forward position with the mower engaged but it would neither go forward or backward nor engage to cut grasss. It worked Ok for a year and then this month I was cutting the grass and it just quit moving. I bought a new house a year ago and a Case 446 Model 14096471 tractor come with it.
